SHORT HILLS, N.J. – Garden Commercial Properties is preparing for the Grand Opening of the first retail stores and restaurants this month at Raritan Town Square, the new 500,000-square-foot mixed-use retail and commercial complex it is developing in Hunterdon County, N.J.’s Raritan Township.

Scheduled to debut at the new center this fall are prominent retailers including Lowe’s Home Improvement – which will serve as one of the anchor tenants at the mixed-use complex -- and Longhorn Steakhouse.  Construction on the second anchor tenant at Raritan Town Square, a 145,000 square-foot Wal-Mart -- is scheduled to begin this fall with a grand opening expected for mid-2009.

“We were pleased to announce these significant milestones in the development of Raritan Town Square,” says Michael Gartenberg, Director of Leasing for the Short Hills, N.J. –based Garden Commercial Properties.  “The opening of Lowe’s and Longhorn Steakhouse will certainly broaden the shopping experience for local residents by providing a nationally-recognized store and restaurant in a location that is easily accessible.  We also anticipate the opening of several additional stores at Raritan Town Square this fall.”

Raritan Town Square brings an important shopping and entertainment destination to the central New Jersey marketplace due to its well conceived layout which, in addition to the community shopping complex, also includes an entertainment and civic center.

Visitors to Raritan Town Square will also enjoy the complex’s central green space which will act as a “downtown” area providing walking paths and beautiful landscaping as well as a location where community concerts, outdoor plays and activities may take place.

“Currently, a limited amount of retail and office space is available for lease at this pedestrian-friendly destination which will undoubtedly provide a fun, safe environment for all of its patrons,” Mr. Gartenberg notes.

Located at the intersection of State Route 31 and County Route 523 in Raritan Township, Raritan Town Square lies in the heart of Hunterdon County’s booming retail development. When completed, the complex will feature 12 buildings on a professionally landscaped site.
